Appeal for Funds For Comrade Ajanta's Treatment
The National Secretary of AIPWA ,State Committee member of CPI(ML), Uttar Pradesh and State Secretary of AIPWA,U.P., Comrade Ajanta Lohit was diagnosed to be suffering from breast cancer in 2001 which has recurred in the liver this time .The recurrence was diagnosed only a few weeks back and chemotherapy has begun at PGI, Lucknow with effect from 3rd May,2006. She had been undergoing regular medical checkups in PGI under a renowned cancer specialist since the disease was diagnosed in 2001.
Ajanta is a dedicated activist, a party wholetimer for more than a decade, who has been working for the All India Progressive Women's Association for more than 10 years and had been active in AISF during her student days. She did not stop for a moment even after her treatment in 2001, touring villages all over the state, courting arrest several times, campaigning for CPI(ML) women candidates in Bihar and UP and working as Secretary of the Lucknow unit of CPI(ML). She is also incharge of the Lenin Pustak Kendra (at Lucknow), which she strived hard to set up and is associated with the supervision of the Kabir Pustak Kendra (at Varanasi) and the Sabad (at Allahabad), all centres of left and feminist literature. Ajanta has also been actively involved in theatre and has helped to organise several cultural activities like poster workshops, exhibitions, poetry recitals etc. We are grieved that she suffers from a malaise that is not only painful but which literally consumes the life energy of the patient. The treatment is painful too! But Ajanta has faced her travails with tremendous courage and will power and we all hope that she will do the same this time too. We wish her a speedy recovery.
