Liberation,
the central organ of
the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist), is a monthly in its thirty-fifth
year of publication. The first issue of the magazine came out at the height
of the Naxalbari movement in November 1967. For a brief period in the
early seventies the magazine could not be published due to severe state
repression on the Party. The magazine's publication has been regular since
1976, first as a quarterly, and since late eighties as a monthly.
Liberation
is the ideological-political organ of the Party reflecting the theory
and practice of the revolutionary left in India. Besides reporting on
official Party positions, the magazine carries columns for discussion
and debates and publishes write-ups by many prominent non-Party progressives
in India.
Liberation
offers you regular
commentaries and features on topical political issues in India, Marxist
analyses of major international and national events and trends, and reports
on the multifarious struggles and activities of the CPI(ML) and its mass
organisations. It regularly covers contemporary discussions and debates
on Marxism and its concrete application in Indian conditions. Liberation
is the foremost champion of revolutionary Marxism-Leninism against social-democratic
opportunism in India. It provides regular reviews of books and films.
Liberation
generates fresh information through left networks that is not usually
available in other news sources. With is vast network of correspondents
from different states of India, including remote rural regions, it brings
firsthand accounts of major struggles, atrocities, and other significant
socio-political developments. Its social investigation column frequently
carries reports of rural investigation. It is Liberation's conscious endeavour
to offer write-ups in a reader-friendly style shorn of cliche and stereotyped
abstractions.
