AISA's Initiative on Right to Work and Education

Close on the heels of its national convention on right to work and education held less than a month back at Allahabad, AISA organised a successful state convention on the same theme at Madras on August 9. The convention was part of a series of programmes to prepare grounds for the September 17 all-India students' strike on the same issue.

Numbering over 200, students had gathered from various universities all over the state. The speakers who addressed the gathering were Dr.Sivakumar, former President of TNGCTA and professor at Presidency College, Dr.Saraswathy, Professor at Queen Mary's College for Women and Com.Shankar, all-India President of AISA. The convention was presided over by Ms.Sheeba, Convenor of AISA, Madras.

An appeal was also made by the convention to the student community as well as left-democratic student organisations of Tamil Nadu to join hands with AISA to make September 17 all-India strike a grand success.
