America’s terror-tactics is at work once again. Wrecking havoc on civilian life and property in Sudan and Afghanistan, Washington intends to bully the world into meekly accepting its big-brother role across the globe. We condemn the naked military intervention in strongest terms.

No less reprehensible is the Indian Prime Minister’s shameless support to the US action. In a pitiable attempt to woo Washington in the wake of post-Pokhran sanctions, he justified the missile bombardments in no uncertain terms. This runs counter to democratic opinion in India and abroad and will lead to India’s isolation from Islamic countries in particular. In fact Vajpayee’s utterances signal a dangerous turn in India’s foreign policy. Remembering his letter to Clinton immediately after the nuclear tests and in the context of plans to develop military-industrial complex following the American model, it appears that he is all set to forge secret ties with the USA without taking the people into confidence.

All who value peace, democracy and national dignity must unite to oppose the American military intervention and the nefarious designs of the BJP government.
